Man, 44, Charged With Sexually Assaulting Child For Two Years

A 44-year-old Hudson Valley man is behind bars after authorities say he sexually assaulted a child for two years.

Members of the City of Poughkeepsie Police, the Dutchess County Child Abuse Center and the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office began an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a 9-year-old female on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Octavio H. Santiago, a City of Poughkeepsie resident, was then arrested on Friday, Aug. 3 and charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, a Class A felony, said Matt Clark of the City of Poughkeepsie PD.

Santiago was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.

Police have not yet released a photograph of Santiago.
